Art photographer Gerald A. Gordon to launch his eponymous first book Gerald A. Gordon – Fine Art Photographer, Friday.

Gordon said The gleaner that the seed of his love for the arts was sown early in his high school years, when he got his hands on his brother’s digital camera. It was good. He took care of it and started dressing his nieces, doing photoshoots at his house.

After leaving high school with a few CSEC subjects and not knowing what to do next, he decided to enroll in Edna Manley College of Visual and Performing Arts, where he took an introductory photography course.

But his formal education didn’t end there. He eventually obtained a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies, majoring in Psychology, with a minor in Community Development. He also graduated in photography.

Today, with over 12 years of experience as a photographer, Creative Director of Gerald A. Gordon Photography said: “The range of my portfolio is a testament to the excellence that I deliver every moment, every encounter. , capturing your precious memories and producing at the best quality.

“As an artist, I am heavily inspired by other fine art photographers who tell stories through the eyes of their camera lenses. It has a huge impact on my work and helps shape me [into] the kind of photographer I am today. He captures life-changing experiences, random personal moments and raw emotions, while adding his personal touch “to make your moment a little more special”.

Its style is a blend of traditional, contemporary and documentary, “providing the right combination to make your story unique, creative and beautiful”. This concentration has lasted for three years, when his love for narrative photography was born.

“This art book is a documentation of my work over time, as I tell several stories through camera lenses. My main goal of this art book is to evoke conversations about art between people, and also to sell the works of art to art lovers, ”Gordon said.

The launch event on Friday will take place at 4 p.m. inside the auditorium of the Portmore HEART Academy in St Catherine. Gordon is also the founder of Black Men Speak, a nonprofit movement concerned with the personal and professional development of marginalized youth.
